Swimming . . . every day . . . twice a day . . . It isn't the only event, but it's the main event around which our Jellystone days are planned. I never take my camera to the pools and slides. There's too much activity for me to take pictures too. Each slide has been named by the kids: the twisty slide, the yellow and blue slide(the biggest of the slides), the green and red slide (new this year), and the picnic basket pool (a whistle blows and moments later all of the kids gather in the shallow water while a giant picnic basket dumps water on their heads). You'd think after all the sliding and swimming the kids would be tired, but a few hours at the cabin, a little food in the belly, and they're ready to go again!
One of the Saturday afternoon activities is the water hayride. We have never ridden on the hayride. We always bring plenty of water balloons and water soakers to make our attack on the hayride. The riders enjoy our cooling off as much as we enjoying soaking them.
Here it comes! It's coming! Quick! Get Ready! Excited voices exclaim as the hayride is spotted. We are in primo real estate for the hayride as we catch it on one side of the horseshoe. Then we bolt across the grassy area to the other side of the horseshoe for a second attack.
Last year I think we only had a ride or two come thru the horseshoe. This year it came thru four times. The kids were so excited each time it made a new appearance.
Here are the troops refilling the ice chest with water balloons. Even with four hayrides and lots of independent balloon launching we still brought home balloons.
