playtime!

it's 10pm on saturday night, and i've finally settled in to do a post. thanks for you who've waited so patiently thru my blogging drought (i believe most everyone was on vacation anyways!)

here was a fun day a few weeks ago. we walked outside saturday morning to play for a little while, and nick's family was walking by for a walk at the same time. the boys wanted to play, and play they did! for THREE hours . . . they were outside in the heat, but it didn't phase them. with the big tree in the front yard and a nice size porch most of their play was shaded.

they were cracking each other up with their made up chalk games and their pretend-play. they're both really imaginative, and it's great to watch them create ice cream and tea and bananas out of nothing!

you'll notice water spilt on the gound . . . this started because they thought that shady was thirsty so they were giving him their water . . . of course from there it just became fun to dump the water on the ground!

these two have been put together many times over the past few years just because we live so close together. now, they're getting to the point where they are starting to play together. despite a difference in size and personality or maybe because of it, they play so well together.

some days they'll just yell across the street at each other "hey!" back and forth until one or the other tires of the game. it's awesome to have such great neighbors and friends!

we topped off the day with popcicles, and then it was off for good long naps! yay for morning play that is followed by a long nap!
