sand & water

sorta like the beach but only a few minutes from home! brody and i ventured over to one little sprinkler park to find it closed for repair. right next to it is a giant covered sandbox. there were a few others playing there due to similar circumstances i assume. despite the 100 degree heat, it wasn't bad under the cover. all the moms & dads just had to convince their kids that it was definitely better sand under the shaded area! at the sandbox, there are dinosaur bones to uncover and tons of sand toys that others have left behind over time. brody found a truck and liked making mountains out of the wet sand that the truck would drive over and leave behind its tracks. also, he had fun burying his feet and mine (sorta like a pedicure, right?!).
one lady who was headed to the running trail and saw our dilemma of the closed sprinkler park, stopped by on her way back from running to direct us to the other sprinkler park. last time i saw the other park i had thought it much too big for brody. this time when i saw it i thought it was just perfect! i think before i must've just been intimidated by some of the bigger kids that were playing. this saturday morning there were lots of littles having fun! and of course, there were a few big kids too . . . brody learned from watching them how to put his finger over the water to make it spray all directions or stop completely. that was his coolest accomplishment on this hot summer day
