red poppy festival 2011

this weekend was so much fun with saturday morning at the red poppy festival. this year we came early to check out the parade, and we packed a picnic lunch. a few years into this tradition, and it's feeling like we're learning some good tricks!



we'll kick it off with this cool picture that i don't know when erik took, but i really like it.



we'd barely been waiting for two minutes when the questions began: "how long until the parade starts?" "i'm hungry" "this is taking sooo long!"



emersyn thought a little jumping might help pass the time.



. . . and here it comes! brody loved seeing the police motorcycles and asked to see this picture a few times.

this makes me laugh every time i see it.



there were lots of cool old cars to check out.



since we parked in the same spot as last year i really wanted to take the same picture of brody and emersyn as we took last year to see how they had changed. after we took this picture erik took the kids to hang out with papa while gram and i enjoyed the rest of the fair. it's always so weird to walk around without the whole gang . . . but don't get me wrong . . . it was still lots of fun!
